Spirou, Marsu and Spip

I’ve been dreaming about this for ages! I’ve finally had the chance to bring the Marsupilami and Spirou (with Spip thrown in for good measure!) together in the same scene! There’s no shortage of great visuals, but this one immediately struck me as a must-have. It’s got all the right ingredients: dynamism, movement, tension (especially in the tail!), bright colours, the need to strike a balance so that our three friends almost seem not to be touching the ground and… it’s a scene seen from behind in the comic! I’ve already mentioned in my book how much I enjoy unearthing a forgotten panel, an unlikely scene or a detail that had gone unnoticed until then. I imagine Franquin put it there just to see if one day someone would pick it out from the rest! Well, that’s what I tell myself. But even if it isn’t true, at least we’re left with a scene of a frantic chase in which Spirou is clearly feeling rather out of his depth!
